WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP

Do you want to make a difference in your community, your state, and the world?

We can help you develop the leadership skills you need to lead where you land.

The Center for Women & Democracy is announcing its first CWD Leadership Institute to provide the opportunity to advance your leadership skills, network with women leaders, develop relationships and access tools you will need to lead.

  • We are recruiting for up to 35 women who are interested in becoming leaders and willing to give a week of their lives to attend a residential leadership training institute from June 22nd to June 26th at Seattle University;
  • Participation in the program is open to women enrolled in college, community college or similar education programs from throughout Washington.
  • The investment is $200 (with scholarships available) and covers four nights lodging, all meals, transportation, seminars and guest attendance at our 10th Annual Center for Women & Democracy Celebration on June 24th at the University Women’s Club;

What you will get:

  • LEADERSHIP SKILLS:  It will feature business, political, civic, non-profit, academic and global leaders who will address topics from public speaking, how to succeed and lead in the workplace and fundraising to how to match your goals to your values -- and then achieve them;
  • NETWORKING AND COMMUNITY-BUILDING: You will have the opportunity to meet leaders from all walks of life who can help you make the connections you will need to succeed in the workplace and lead wherever you choose to make a difference;
  • THE WORLD OF WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP: Women today are realizing major accomplishments all over the world – and many of our future women leaders will work, travel or invest in other countries, another culture, or in circles of diversity new to you. What will it take to be a global citizen? How can you be ready for the richness of the diversity of the world we live in? We’ll offer ideas.

Application Process and Costs for the Institute: 

  • Applications are due May 3, 2010, with applicants to be notified by May 15th.
  • Total cost of program: $200; $75 deposit required to secure your placement.

How you can help:


• SUPPORT WITH A DONATION: The success of the institute depends on contributions from those dedicated to empowering women. Our program focuses on harnessing the energy of emerging women leaders, some who may not have the resources to afford tuition. You can sponsor a scholarship with a donation.
